They say everything’s bigger in Texas and this year’s SAP Ariba Live was no exception.
Earlier this month I had the pleasure of attending SAP Ariba Live with several colleagues in Austin, TX. As our relationship with SAP Ariba continues to evolve, the annual conference is one of our most anticipated procurement events of the year. I was excited to reconnect with old friends and meet with the diverse group of innovators, partners, and customers that Ariba Live attracts. And while this was not my first time attending SAP Ariba Live, it was certainly the most memorable. From engaged booth attendees to a jam-packed breakout session, Seal truly showcased our value and left a lasting impression.

At this year’s event, Seal certainly had a larger presence as a platinum sponsor. Given the success of 2018’s SAP Ariba Live, we invested in a larger booth (in a prime location) and we definitely saw a return on investment. Day 1 started off strong as the team spoke with prominent Fortune 500 companies and throughout the event, our booth had continuous traffic from prospects and partners alike. People were seeking us out and excited to learn more about our contract discovery and analytics solution. Our brand recognition over the course of the last year has increased significantly and it was evident as visitors expressed a need to get their contract house in order and solve business problems using Seal. While Seal for Procurement was a huge topic of discussion given the nature of the event, it was clear that attendees spanning a wide range of industries and use cases had additional challenges that Seal can address, including M&A, pre-execution contract review, compliance and more.

For me, the real highlight of the conference was our breakout session on Day 2. Steve Tucker, Seal Software SVP Sales and customer, Linda Chuan, former VP Global Technology Sourcing, Thomson Reuters shared insights with attendees on how to leverage contract analytics to drive business value and enhance their CLM functionality. With a standing room only session, it was clear that Seal’s momentum is growing, and contract analytics is recognized as a priority. Immediately following the session, event attendees stopped by the booth to ask targeted questions about their specific contract search, review and analytic needs. The narrative from last year’s event shifted significantly, as event-goers now recognize a problem with their contractual systems, whereas in events past it felt like they didn’t even know they had a problem. Another tell-tale sign of the shifting importance of contract discovery and analytics is the number of companies that continued their conversations after they returned to the fire-drills of their day job. We anticipate that 2019 will become a pivotal year for how companies look at and value their contracts as sources of strategic data.
