Seal's Contribution to Open Source Community

Seal Software’s Contribution to the Open Source Community

The open-source movement is one of the key foundations of the Internet era. Without it, many of the technologies we take for granted today would never have been developed or would be locked away behind patent law. The movement aims to support rapid prototyping, transparency and community-oriented development.

“In open source, we feel strongly that to really do something well, you have to get a lot of people involved.” – Linus Torvalds

“Open source production has shown us that world-class software, like Linux and Mozilla, can be created with neither the bureaucratic structure of the firm nor the incentives of the marketplace as we’ve known them.” – Howard Rheingold

At Seal, we believe that innovation is driven by collaboration and being a part of an active open source community means benefiting as well as contributing to collective knowledge and shared best practices. This was clearly shown in our contribution to the Flowable engine project which is a Java-based core set of open source business process engines that are compact and highly efficient at executing business processes described in BPMN 2.0. Extending the Decision Table (DT) logic to cover more complex use cases was one of Seal’s main contributions.

Through direct contribution to support open source projects, Seal is not only giving back to our community but also supporting digital transformation for organizations. Seal is moving forward to pave the way for WCA (Workflow and Content Automation), which is a new category for automating document processes. Transactions that can automate workflows and produce intelligent documents with valuable process analytics are pioneered by a new generation of integrated, cloud-based apps and programs that enhance business productivity and intelligence.

Another key factor here is the implementation of IPA (Intelligent Process Automation) which is an emerging set of new technologies that combines fundamental process redesign with robotic process automation and machine learning. It is a suite of business-process improvements and next-generation tools that assist the knowledge worker by removing repetitive, replicable, and routine tasks. And it can radically improve the customer journey by simplifying interactions and speeding up processes. This can now be achieved by the SLE (Seal Logic Engine) which automatically takes extracted content from SCD (Seal Discovery and Analytics) and produces answers based on business logic, resulting in reduced time and cost with outstanding accuracy.

Here at Seal, we look forward to continuing to drive innovation and contribute to the open-source community. Our strategic partnership with DocuSign, which is marked as an “Identified Vendor” for leading the market away from human creation of documents and toward machine creation and routing, ensures that we are thinking ahead by reducing time to value, speed at recognition, teaching and producing answers. If you haven’t already, take a deeper look into our platform and how we are fueling digital transformation with improved processes. Our commitment to the open-source community is making technology better for everyone and proving that the Seal platform will give you answers, not just extractions.
